Planet Asia & TzariZM

Planet Asia & TzariZM

With a career that's spanned nearly two decades in the independent underground scene, Planet Asia stands as one of the figureheads of West Coast hip hop culture. The latest installment to his deep discography is Via Satellite, a collaborative album with Orlando-based producer/emcee TzariZM (from the quickly-rising Doxside Music Group) – available everywhere on July 29th.

Via Satellite is a voyage through hip hop's dustiest crevices. TzariZM's aggressive production, often described as new age boom-bap, provides Planet Asia with an ideal backdrop to showcase the lyrical skills that have earned him his rank amongst rap's fiercest lyricists. Stemming from a musical partnership that began 10 years ago, the album's songs were concocted by the duo together in the same room as well as through file-sharing across the country. Planet Asia also tapped a slew of guests to join him for Via Satellite, including Durag Dynasty members Killer Ben and TriState, Oh No, Rock (Heltah Skeltah), Casual (Hieroglyphics), MidaZ the Beast, Montage One, Prodigal Sunn, and more.

Planet Asia is like the Kevin Bacon of rap –there are very few figures in the genre that the Grammy-nominated rapper can't be linked to. Beginning with a collection of classic 12" singles released in the late 90s, his career has taken him all over the world and included highlights such as garnering critical acclaim from The Source magazine for his former group Cali Agents and scoring a major label record deal with Interscope. Always putting the West Coast on the map, his catalog includes collaborative albums with Evidence (Dilated Peoples), The Alchemist, and DJ Muggs, as well as songs with artists such as Talib Kweli, Ghostface Killah, Bun B, and Linkin Park.

TzariZM is a hip hop producer and artist based out of Orlando, FL. Fans of underground hip hop may be familiar with his discography, which includes the critically acclaimed The Heart & Brain Mbodiment (Domination Recordings) and collaborations with indie stalwarts Celph Titled, Homeboy Sandman, Akrobatik, Q-Unique, Butta Verses, and Wordsworth. TzariZM has also provided the soundtrack to many popular TV shows, including Dancing With The Stars, Jersey Shore, True Life, E! True Hollywood Story and LA Ink. Most recently, he has played a crucial role as a key member of Doxside Music Group, contributing his skills as both a producer and emcee to projects by MidaZ the Beast, Critical (Critical Madness), and his brother IMAKEMADBEATS.
