"Drifting between dream and reality in a surreal postmodern landscape.
Austrian duo Mynth—consisting of Salzburg-based twins Giovanna and Mario Fartacek—shot the video for their new track in the surreal landscape of La Muralla Roja, Spain; a sprawling postmodern landscape of pink and blue." NOWNESS
SEAYOU RECORDS SET TO RELEASE MYNTH'S PARALLELS DECEMBER 1ST IN NORTH AMERICA.
MYNTH is an electronic duo based in Vienna, made up of twins Mario and Giovanna Fartacek. The siblings have shared their lives since before they were born, and it is near impossible to put into words the special connection they have with each other. They have decided to take this connection even further by combining both of their passions for music. The result is MYNTH.
Their music can be described as a mixture of beats and skew analog synth-sounds, with vocals that are both fragile and emotionally-charged at the same time.
The first EP "Polar Night", which was written and produced in the depth of Norwegian winters, was released on SEAYOU RECORDS along with their debut album Plaat ||. The duo immediately drew attention on the Austrian music scene, where they emerged as one of the best newcomers of 2015. Their main focus now is to develop beyond the German-speaking areas and submerge into the international music scene.
Mynth’s second album PARALLELS plays with melancholic vibes. While the previous album Plaat || mostly focused on dejection, the duo break through this cheerless mood and let in some cautious optimism combined with a bit of gallows humor on PARALLELS.
A sonic change that is more fleet- footed, poppy, airy and more colorful. This new mood definitely suits them and accompanies the new production process, which focused more on a band setting followed by live recordings of all the samples and instrumentals. The first two singles, "Mirrors" and "Rose" lead the charge with the new sound.
Since the release of Plaat || they focused on playing live which brought them to Mexico, Bulgaria, Israel and France among other countries. In March 2017 they were nominated for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award and won in the category Electronic- Dance.
The twins were miles apart when they wrote most of the songs (Gio lived in Berlin, Mario in Vienna) and were just connected through the music they produce. They worked in a parallel (hence the album title) process but at the end there were songs that developed and formed the new sound of MYNTH.
PARALLELS is a very intimate conversation and exchange between siblings who didn’t see each other in a long time: wistfully but slightly smiling.
