Lost in Stars

Lost in Stars is the electronic music project of Los Angeles-based composer, poet, and producer Dylan Willoughby. His 2015 debut EP, Once You Were Fire, was premiered by Earmilk and KRCW (Los Angeles), and charted on independent radio across the country. The music video for the title track also premiered on Earmilk. A self-titled, full-length LP is slated for release on March 31.  Maps (Mute Records) and Philippe Laurent (Minimal Wave) have remixed two of the tracks.

Lost in Stars frequently collaborates with Greek-born artist Elena Charbila, a.k.a. Kid Moxie, as well as Darren Burgos and Alysa Lobo. Willoughby co-produced the latest Kid Moxie EP, Perfect Shadow, as well as her 2014 breakthrough LP, 1888. He also produced her videos for “Lacuna,” “Museum Motel,” and “Mysteries of Love,” premiering on Entertainment Weekly, Stereogum, and Noisey, respectively. Lost in Stars has produced official remixes for Erasure, Kid Moxie, and Book of Love.

Willoughby was born in London and spent most of his summers there as a child, an environment that heavily influenced his love of electronic music. A classically-trained pianist, Willoughby played in bands growing up before taking a long hiatus from music, focusing his attention on creative writing. He earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Cornell University, and has been a writer-in-residence at distinguished literary communes Yaddo and The MacDowell Colony. He has two published books of poetry, Thrive and Dusk at St. Mark’s, with a new book, Le Festival des Murmures, forthcoming.
