CAMINO 84 SET TO RELEASE NEW MUTANT DISCO AUGUST 22ND.
Camino 84 isn’t shy about nerding out. Whether uncovering forgotten dancefloor weapons or crafting original tunes, he does the homework. And the driving, forceful brand of disco he emerges with shows it all off. It’s as equally fitting headlining underground dance clubs in Boston as it is showing off the universal groove on the bill with artists like Shura, Darwin Deez, or Aaron Carter (yes, really…)
Since 2014, he’s packed his funkiest records and brought them to hip hop cyphers, underground raves, hipster bars, and frat parties, picking up a dedicated community of like-minded music lovers and crate diggers along the way, all ready to “do the homework”. Original singles like the dreamy pop of “Oh My” or the Brazilian-tinged jazz-funk of “Methods of Flotation” have racked up nearly a million streams across digital platforms (and hit the global front page of Reddit for one full day of bragging rights in August 2016). 2016 saw the release of both the well-received “Don’t read this. You will be kissed…” EP as well as a massive vinyl archival project at Boston’s legendary WRBB and an accompanying DJ mix complete with liner notes by journalist/historian Dart Adams.
Camino 84’s upcoming LP, New Mutant Disco, brings a new influence into the mix by way of the late-70s NYC dance punk scene. The 10 original tracks range from carefully-crafted pop songs to extended, hypnotic dancefloor workouts, brought to life with the help of a dozen Boston music scene staples, singer-songwriter Sidney Gish, and MCs KOOL A.D and Latrell James. The album releases on August 22nd, 2017.
